C. David Baker lives on a small farm with his wife, Susan, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania where he has been a lifelong resident. He is the descendant of German, Scottish, English and Dutch settlers of the area who arrived in the late 1600's and early 1700's. His family tree is an interesting assortment of Mennonite, Reformed and Presbyterian families and includes such notables as John Clement–a signator of King Charles I's death warrant, later to be drawn and quartered by King Charles II–and Adam Neff, the flag bearer of the city of Zurich who stood by Zwingli as he died in the battle of Kappel. Others include William Rittenhouse, the first papermaker in the U.S.; Mattias Koplin, the grantor of land for the first American hospital; six of the founding thirteen families of Germantown; and William Penn's Dutch mother. Three of David's ancestors served in the Bucks County militia during the War for Independence.

The father of two sons, and a graduate of Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, David is the founder and president of an award winning business and has served his community on private school and mission boards and as an elected local official. Baker is presently completing his Masters degree in theological studies at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland.

Failure has been part of his life as well. It has been these deep valleys that have led David to the well of Grace from which the essence of his writing is drawn.

Having sold his business, most of his time is now devoted to professional writing and with that has come years of travel. A lover of history, he has researched and toured much of North America, Britain, Continental Europe, and South Africa. His other interests include fishing and hiking, raising cattle and a few hogs on his farm, and tending his horse Goliath who shares the pasture with two pretty mares.
